Doylestown offers valuation services by appointment on Wednesdays (excluding holidays) from 10am to 3pm. Appointments are required and can be made via email at preview@alderferauction.com or by phone at 215-393-3000. Be prepared to bring any relevant information about your items, and note that there's a 4-item limit per couple. If you have more items, in-home appointments can be arranged. It's important to understand that valuation often requires research beyond a quick inspection, especially for jewelry which takes time to assess based on size, color, clarity, weight, and other factors. Doylestown itself is not a drop-off, pick-up, or delivery location, so contact your sales representative for any product transfers.

What to Expect: There is a perception that appraisers/valuators can simply look at an item and immediately know the complete history of the piece, as well as the estimated value. This is rarely the case. Given constant fluctuations in the market, most appraisals/valuations require a great deal of research to find and justify appropriate and realistic values. Jewelry takes much time to evaluate, size, color, clarity, weight, etc. and may need more time than the 20-minute allotted time.
