Collection of 14 German World War I postcards relating to Captain Otto Weddigen of the submarine U9. Weddigen (1882-1915) sank 3 British cruisers in September 1914. Collection includes both artistic and photographic portraits of Weddigen and his crew, as well as memorial postcard for the U29 which was under Weddigen's command when it was rammed by the HMS Dreadnaught causing the loss of the submarine and the death of Weddigen. Seven cards are postally used (3 by "feldpost").
