Colt Dragoon Revolver-2nd Model bearing the serial #10369 (all matching serial numbers) in .44 caliber percussion. Pistol presents a 7.5" partial octagonal to round barrel. Top of barrel present one-line stamping"ADDRESS SAML COLT, NEW-YORK CITY". with left side of frame stamped "COLTS/PATENT/US" in three lines. The cylinder is engraved with the Texas Ranger and Indian battle scene and "MODEL U.S.M.R." and "COLT'S PATENT". Serial number indicates that this pistol was manufactured in 1851. Pistol exhibits an overall even gray finish. Gun would rate very good in NRA antique firearms standards. Wood surfaces exhibit some minor/small digs. Frame at right rear exhibits some slight pitting as does several areas on cylinder scene. Pistol presents square back brass trigger guard and several parts marked with stamped letter "B" of an ordnance sub-inspector. Left grip exhibits stamp"JCB" for Joseph C. Bragg (ordnance sub-inspector) and right grip exhibits stamp"WAT" for William Anderson Thornton (ordnance final inspector). Pistol accompanied by receipt from 1959 tracing ownership lineage of pistol. Provenance: Gary S. Wolfer Collection.
