Sharps (1853 Slant Breech) carbine- in .52 cal with 22" round barrel. Carbine is serial numbered"14025". Breech tang is stamped in 3 lines"SHARPS/PATENT/ 1848" with the serial number"14025" marked directly to the rear. Barrel is stamped in 3 lines"SHARP'S RIFLE/ MANUFG CO./HARTFORD, CONN." Lockplate tang is stamped in 3 lines"SHARPS/PATENT/1852" behind the hammer. Carbine presents long ring slide. Metal of carbine exhibits pleasant toning with some light surface rust. Wood in good condition with chip in wood with loss at bottom of butt near buttplate. Carbine exhibits closed crack at wrist.
