Discovery Art | December 13, 2023 at 7:00 PM

Online Only
This discovery art auction features a wide variety of artworks spanning different mediums, styles and time periods. Highlights include two signed lithographs by renowned Native American artist Bev Doolittle, including her popular print "A Prayer for Wild Things" numbered 28023 out of 65,000. Other featured prints include two monographs by Gerry Seltzer, titled "Autumn Flames" and "Summer Storm", as well as works by less widely collected artists like Ira Moskowitz, Terauci Fukutarp, Ernest Versupuy and more. Oil paintings range from an unsigned work after Giulio Romano's "Madonna and Child with a Cat" to a large and bright still life of sunflowers surrounding two doves and a figure by an unnamed artist. Landscapes vary from an industrial river scene signed Wahlberg to a coastal town vista signed Regier. Portraiture is also represented, with fantasy portraits including an owl perched on a man's shoulder as well as more traditional portraits of women. Watercolors highlight the work of Gail Bracegirdle with abstract floral compositions. Also featured are atmospheric watercolors of barns and covered bridges by Earl Handy. Other watercolors include an elder man smoking a pipe by Terauci Fukutarp and a seascape with crashing waves signed Cyrardes. Sue Goldstein Elkins is represented with two figural engravings in small editions, while the work of Mildred Barrett includes lithographs focused on family and summertime subjects as well as one large color print titled "Swing Set". A rolled set of two family-themed lithographs offers buyers a more affordable way to purchase the artist's work. Several decorative lots speak to collector's varied tastes, like a pair of Chinese pith paintings of scholars, an antique print of a clergyman by Jehan Georges Vibert, and even a folky painting simply signed "Belgium-Ardennes" depicting a rooster. Unframed works provide an accessible entry point for new buyers alongside mid-century, old master and 19th century selections.
